Tips For Helping You Live a More Sustainable Lifestyle

Part of our proposition has always been to sell products which are sustainable and / or help people to recycle and live a more sustainable lifestyle. We are currently involved in over 60 council food waste schemes up and down the country, supplying the liners and food waste bins to local retailers and selling them online to make it easier for people to take part in the scheme. Recycling and sustainable living has been well adopted in the UK over the past few years and it’s hoped that the UK will become a zero-waste economy in the near future. The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) found that approximately 43% of all household waste was recycled in 2011/12, up by more than 30% in comparison to 2000/01 when only 11% of all household waste was recycled.   Tips to help you live a more sustainable lifestyle Not only is recycling and living a sustainable lifestyle a good thing to do for the environment, but it can also help you to save money, which is always nice. Take a look at our tips to help you produce less household waste and live a more sustainable lifestyle.   Food Waste Schemes Visit your council website to find out if they are running a food waste scheme in your area. If they are, find out what size liners and food waste bins you need and visit one of our local retailers in your area or visit our website for the best quality and best value for money Compostable and Biodegradable liners.   Composting Begin composting some of your food and household waste and create a nice base fertiliser for your garden. To get started, visit the Compost Bins section of our website to choose a compost bin. The best part is that our compost bins are environmentally friendly and are made from 100% recycled material.   Water Butts While we may have seen plenty of rain over the winter, we may not later in the year and hosepipe bans may be enforced in certain parts of the country. Whether your area is affected by hosepipe bans or not, you can save yourself some money by collecting rain water in a water butt and using that on your garden to keep your plants and vegetables looking beautiful.   Buy sustainable gifts and household items Where you can buy sustainable gifts and household items, and better yet try to buy products which have recyclable packaging. We know at certain points during the year it’s difficult to avoid excess packaging, such as Birthdays and Christmas. Remember that not all councils will recycle wrapping paper, so make sure you check with them first. There are also a number of household items you can buy which are recycled themselves, for example we sell a range of recycled glassware. Visit our website to find out if we are working together with your council to help support your local food waste scheme and find out which liners and caddies you need to take part in the scheme.
