How to recycle Easter egg packaging

Easter is just as bad as Christmas when it comes to packaging. After all of the chocolate has been scoffed you’re left with mountains of packaging, so what do you do with it all? The best thing to do with it is to recycle it; that saves space in your general waste bin and helps the environment.   Recycling bins Most councils will accept cardboard packaging and plastic in recycling bins, however some will not so make sure you check what you can and cannot put in your recycling bin. The same goes for foil; some will allow you to recycle foil and others will not so make sure to check. If your council allows foil it must be clean.   What if my bins are overflowing? You may find that the bank holiday affects when your bins are empty or perhaps you simply don’t have room for all of the packaging in your bins. Instead of waiting for your bins to be emptied again, take them to a local recycling centre or get creative with them.   Recycling centres You will be able to find recycling bins at your local recycling centre / tip or supermarket where you can get rid of your cardboard and plastic packaging.   Sainsbury’s recycling bins This year Sainsbury’s have introduced an in store recycling bin specifically for Easter egg packaging, which will even allow you to recycle foil. Even if you can recycle the cardboard and plastic in your household recycling bin, it’s worth visiting your local Sainsbury’s just to get rid of all that foil.   Get creative Lastly, you could keep some of the cardboard to one side and put it to good use keeping the kids entertained over the Easter holidays.
