Traditionally chimineas originate from Mexico, and are made from clay. The native Mexicans developed and fashioned them from local clay to provide a means to cook food, in particular the baking of bread, and to provide heat and warmth in the cool evenings.We have returned to Mexico to source our Chimineas where the clay is more suited to the production of Chimineas. They are fired in Kilns at temperatures over three times as hot as those used to fire chimineas from Chinese clay. This results in a stronger chimineas that is more efficient at conducting and radiating heat. Also a clay chimineas will not rust or corrode.
All our chimineas have an internal shelf that can be used to rest a grill upon to aid cooking. These are added by hand in the later stages of production and so will vary accordingly.
Complete with a lid to keep rain out during periods of non use. These should be removed before lighting. Using dry well seasoned logs full burn can be achieved in about 15 minutes.
