Autumn provides excellent material for your compost bin, whether it is the grass cuttings from the last mowing of the season, old bedding plants from your borders and containers or the golden brown leaves from the trees. Indeed most people get far more leaves than they need and that is why we recommend our leaf sacks. Sure you can use them layered in the compost bin between the grass cuttings, but why not also make some rich nutritional leaf mould for next year.

Rake the leaves into piles and then stuff them tightly into the durable hessian sacks and then leave them in a dark shady corner to rot down during the winter. Return in spring, when these should be a damp, black leaf mulch suitable for use on your vegetable and flower beds as a base compost and fertiliser.
